  1. Canon is definitely worth the buy. Better glass, better IS, full time MF, really fast focus. I dont see any sharpness difference with 17-55mm vs 24-70mm L. I use my 17-55mm more than 24-70L. I really wish, like everyone else, it has weather sealed body. I debated of buying that 17-50 tamron VC but after seeing my buddy’s videos and pics, 17-55mm is def much better investment. WORTH THE PRICE

  2. i have 550D. so view finder is not as big as ur 7d. But keeping in mind the subject lighting/metering positioning. Focusing issues is not something i wana add. Picture not well exposed u can still do some thing about it. But picture not in focus or missing shots bcz of focus. i lately realized is not some thing i would want to compromise on.

@199200001992 Everyone has to formulate their own opinions and base it off what they are going to use the lens for. Both are amazing lenses.

  4. So to conclude, there is no definate facts to prove that the 85mm 1.2L II, is better than the 50mm 1.2L in sharpness, image quality, or build quality. Its all subjective, like your opinions, and other people’s on other websites you base your assumptions on. The 85mm f1.2L USM II though does beat the 50mm f1.2L USM, but thats pretty much it. I think because the 50mm is more of a walk around lens, and that it has weather sealing, it beats the 85mm by a small margin. But obviously, thats subjective

  5. It doesn’t out-do the 50mm 1.2L in weather sealing as the 85 1.2L II doesn’t have that feature. The focus ring on the 85mm 1.2L can’t be manually retracted back in af mode without power, unlike the 50mm1.2L which can. And most of all, the L glass is excatly the same for both the 50mm and 85mm. And lastly, of course bokeh is going to be better on the 85mm than the 50mm, due to focal lenght, but if its all about bokeh, then the 135mm f2L beats the 85mm f1.2L II.

  6. @199200001992 I’ve read dozens of reviews/forums etc before buying the 85. also considering the 50 and 135L. almost everywhere I read, the vast opinion and technical results (sharpness, color bokeh etc) are that the 85 out does the 50 in everyway.mind you that the 85 1.2 is a rather specialized “artsy” lens. I own the 35L as well, superb quality but also lesser (wide open) then the 85. the difference really lies in shooting wide open, thats when stuff starts to matter. hope this helps :)

  7. Is the 85mm really better than the 50mm in colour rendition and sharpness?? Have you done any tests using constant manual settings and lighting, to prove your point?? Because I have the Canon 50mm 1.2L, and am confused as they both share the same great ‘L’ glass and optical design. As well, the Canon 50mm 1.2L beats the Canon 85mm 1.2L in my opinion, due to the fact that the 50mm 1.2L has weather sealing, where as the 85mm 1.2L does not have such a feature!
